THE BATTLE OF PLASSEY
(23rd June, 1757)

On Aliverdhi Khan’s death in 1756, SIRAJ-UD-DAULA, his grandson became nawab of Bengal at 24. Siraj prohibited and captured Fort William and 146 Englishmen, threw them in a small hole on 20th June, 1756, 123 died, ‘Black Hole Tragedy’, Robert Clive conspired with Mir Jafar,( Commander of Siraj) & Manik Chand, Jagath Set, Omchand, killed by MIRAN, (son of  Mir Jafar).  

 Mir Jafar, (as promised by Robert Clive), became puppet ruler of Bengal.  8,00,000 pounds, 24 Parganas and 2,34,000 pounds given to Clive. Mir Jafar resigned unable to satisfy the demands of English. His son-in-law, Mir Qasim succeeded him, but he too resigned unable to satisfy the demands of British.

Results:-
  • Siraj-ud-daula, Nawab of Bengal, was defeated at Plassey by British Commander, Robert Clive and killed by Miran, the son of Mir Jafar.
  • This battle had paved the way for the foundation of the English Rule in India.
