THE BATTLE OF BUXAR
(22nd October, 1764)

Mir Qasim shifted his capital to Monghyr. He took a drastic step by replacing Indian Marchants in the place of English. They decided to overthrow him. War broke between Mir Qasim and Company in 1763. He escaped to Oudh, took the help of SHUJA-ud-DAULA, Nawab of Oudh, Shah Alam-II. War broke between Mir Qasim and Englishmen. All the three parties were defeated by English headed by Major Munro on 22nd October, 1764.  

Results:-
  • Mir Qasim, Nawab, Shah Alam-II were together defeated by the British.
  • Treaty of Allahabad (16th August, 1765)
  • British became the masters of war.
  • Robert Clive was appointed as Governor General of Bengal and Deccan.
